Syawal 1430

'So tell me Nur, the Muslims are celebrating Eid because it is the end of Ramadhan?' my friend asked as he was interested to know about our upcoming festival. Another typical question that I always being asked.

Few years ago, I would simply say yes without any extra elaboration. But it came to my inkling that they must have thought that we are actually eager and want Ramadhan to end quickly because the fasting make us anemic-like-patient, pale, fatigue, boring, and the list goes on...and so when it really ends, we are happy, thus we celebrate the Eid.

'Yes, but in the same time the Muslims are actually mourning, because Ramadhan is leaving us. Its holy blessing is what being chased after, and we would never know if we will live up to meet the next Ramadhan.'

With such introduction for a further explanation, I do not know whether they can really understand our Islamic faith. Behind their nodding, I hope they do.

It is very downhearted to see some Muslims in the hospital I go, who eat and drink nonchalantly in front of the non-Muslims, without any excuse of ignoring the obligation. They just make the non-Muslims confuse!

I remember one day in Ramadhan, a Muslim doctor was offering some food to me in front of my friends. So I said that I was fasting. He gave me his sarcastic smile and said that I was trying to built palaces in the heaven. I felt as if I was swallowing a spoonful of bile salt at that time. Gosh.

Be it. And now Syawal has come. The happiness is there, I can feel it. Not because Ramadhan has now end. But because we are grateful and thankful to Allah, for allowing us to have Ramadhan this time and for the bountiful life now we are living in.

Allahu akbar, allahu akbar, allahu akbar. Lailaha illallahu allahu akbar. Allahu akbar wa lillahilham.

'Selamat Hari Raya,
maaf zahir & batin.'

Eid Mubarak :)

Hammerhead

A hammerhead shark.

Define HAMMERHEAD.

A hammerhead is an individual who places his head to the ground and hammers through any and all obstacles to get a job done and then ask for more work. One who gives 110% and never complains. One who desires work.
